What is a linocut?
A linocut is an art form similar to a woodcut. The artist carves an image out from a sheet of linoleum and then prints the design that remains.
How Does Leiann Create Her Lino-Cuts?
In creating my linocuts, I first draw out my image in my sketchbook, then I create/shade the areas that I want to print. I then transfer the drawing onto my block of linoleum shading in with a sharpie marker the areas I shaded in my drawing. The areas that have not been shaded in, I then carve with my carving tools. Once all is carved out and only the shaded in areas remain, I then print the image that remains onto paper or fabric by hand using a barren and wooden spoon. What is a Limited Edition?
All of Leiann's artworks are in a limited edition. This means that once the designated number is reached for that linoleum block (ie:300) that block is then retired or as Leiann likes to put it "Put Out To Pasture" and no more Original Prints will be made. This ensures value and potential growth in value for buyers of the artwork. All Limited Edition Artworks are signed, dated and numbered. For example in the left corner is the edition number 100/300, then in the middle is the title of the artwork, then on the right is Leiann Klein's signature and date.
Leiann's Modern Day Cowgirl Artwork
All works of art are printed on Stonehenge Edition Archival paper to ensure quality and longevity. Each piece is hand printed from the linoleum block. Each piece is like an individual piece of art. They have been printed on either White, Cream or Wheat colored paper using either, Burgundy, Hunter green, Indigo Blue, Sienna Brown or Jet Black ink. You can always request a specific color ink on a specific color paper. Leiann tries her best to accommodate customers. You have the choice of either ordering the artwork framed or unframed. Unframed pieces are matted in black to fit standard sized frames, so no custom framing is required. Or you can order your artwork framed in barnwood frames from here. To see the desired artworks to click on how the piece looks framed.

Custom artwork can make a great gift for your horse loving friend or relative, can be a great way to remeber a cherished equine friends who has passed, or a great way to show off that ribbon/competition you won with on horse. Please e mail Leiann to discuss the possiblities of creating your very own personal designed piece of equine art.
