How to Burn a Candle |
||
I never knew there was an art to successfully burning a candle until I started to make them. There is an art to burning a candle successfully to make sure you get the most use of your wax and NO residue on the jar. First- The Wick... Always trim your wick 1/4 of and inch before you light it. Never light a wick that has that black "BALL' on the top. This will create a soot on the jar walls. Second- Burn time... Only burn your candle about the same amount of hours as the diameter of the mouth of your candle jar. ( My candles are 3 inches so that means not to burn more than 3-4 hours at a time. Third- Surface.... Be sure to burn your candle on a level surface so you have an even wax pool in your candle and never next to any flammable objects. Fourth- Never leave your candle unattended! |

There is about 1 inch of sand on the bottom of the jar with a tea light. You can put any candle of your choice in the jar providing it fits. Here are the step by step instructions...on how to make this lantern including the materials needed. I would love to see photos of yours at your home. |
